The most frequent question I've been getting is "How is Washington?" even from the locals. To start with this is the view out of my office window. So I could be doing much worse and yes those are the Olympic mountains way out in the background. Kirkland is fine. I honestly think you could swap it in for Middleton and you'd barely notice. You would just wonder where all of these hills came from, but its a nice affluent suburb with all of the franchises you'd expect. I've got my Target, Walgreens, McDonalds, Taco Bell, even found a Qdoba. The grocery stores are Safeways and Fred Meyers instead of Copps and Cub. However the density of Starbucks does kind of give away where you are. I've yet to find a grocery store that doesn't have one in it. I can think of at least 5 within a couple miles of my apartment, including a 24 hour one with a drive-thru. I've only had time for couple quick trips into Seattle, but I've liked it so far. I'll probably save the touristy stuff for when Neil and Becca visit in October.
I haven't had long to sample the weather, but so far its been pretty good. Looks like we are up for a bit of colder turn in the weather. Highs in the 60s instead of 70s and every few days in rains in the morning. I'm still curious how I will deal with the winter grey here, but as of right now I still think its going to be better than the bitter cold in Wisconsin.
Post any question you have in the comments and I'll do my best to answer them.
